I ordered a DiResta Knife and wanted to make some scales, so this is showing my first venture into shaping knife scales. I wanted to experiment with a painting technique I've seen across a few channels, using a canvas to let the paint run off the edges to create natural swirling shapes. I created two pieces with this technique and then applied some gold leaf to highlight the natural patterns that emerged. This is a very easy do-it-yourself project — all you need is a canvas, paint that is thinned, and some gold leaf sheet with the appropriate adhesive. Transforming an underutilized formal dining room into a game room/lounge/home office - Part 3 - building doors and shelves for the custom cabinets. The door frames are made of poplar with a tongue-and-groove connection, with a plywood panel insert. The shelves are using the same 3/4" plywood as the cabinets, and have a solid piece of poplar attached along the front edge. I show a bit of painting at the end of this video but did not get much footage from this, so I'll talk a bit more about the paint in the next (and final) video in the series. Catching up?
